Florence Nightingale

The children in Cherry Class have had an experience day today, learning all about Florence Nightingale.
We thought about nurses in hospitals and found out that they used to be dirty places, we discovered that Florence Nightingale cleaned up hospitals when she helped with the Crimean War. They did not have electricity and so she used a lamp to check on the soldiers at night and was known as the 'lady with the lamp'. We then made our own paper lanterns and used the i-Pads to research about her.
What a good day!

Take a look at some of the homework...

The children's last homework was to create a skeleton - but they weren't allowed to use pen or pencil. Here are a few of the skeletons.
They all look amazing!
Well done children, and thank you parents for your help and effort too.

The children in Cherry Class have been very busy today. We have been practising our Harvest lines, baking for refreshments after the church tomorrow and playing with instruments in music. Most of all, we have been having fun.

In a dark, dark classroom...

This is how our day begins.
In a dark, dark village.
Down a dark, dark street.
In a dark, dark school.
Through a dark, dark hall.
In a dark, dark classroom.
A class of skeletons were learning.

Cherry class had an experience morning, learning all about the Funnybones book. After reading the book we were transformed into skeletons and lived the story. Have a look at some pictures below:

Our cheesy afternoon

Today in Cherry Class we got our cheesy feet out to help us with our art. We tried drawing our feet without looking at them and they did not look like feet. So we took our socks and shoes off and tried again, making sure we were looking at what we were drawing. It worked out great.

What amazing shields!

In Cherry class we learnt about the different designs for a knight's shield. We then decided what kind of knight we would want to be and created our own shield.

Layla: "The blue triangle means strength and the red means I am serving my country and the swords mean power."
Alex: "the red shows I'm presenting for my country, ants means I am strong and the cross are for faith and protection."
Eloise: "The green means joy, beauty and love, the square means reward and the crown means victory. The purple bit is for majesty."
Joseph: "The square in the corner is a reward for performance, the bull is for strength and bravery, the white means wisdom and blue means strength."
Nicole: "The blue is for my strength, the red is for serving my country and the wobbly line is the sea."
Liam: " The cross in the middle is faith and protection, the square in the corner is rewards and the red is about saving the country."

Warwick Castle Trip

On Thursday Cherry Class went on a trip to Warwick Castle. We learned a lot about castles, what it was like to live in a castle, Kingmakers and we even helped to break a spell that was put on a prince!
Although it was tiring, we had a fab time!
